WHERE THE POSITION IS LOCATED:

WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT:

  • Respond to network and host based security events.
  • Minimize the dwell time of threat actors by monitoring, triaging, and validating security events, while maintaining thorough documentation in the case management system.
  • Operate with little-to-no direction and define relationships between seemingly unrelated events through deductive reasoning.
  • Actively hunt for and dissect previously unidentified threats in the environment.
  • Participate in intelligence sharing and trust groups, then apply this knowledge to security controls.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures to reflect day-to-day security operations.
  • Create innovative in-house control capabilities to assist in the automation of existing security operations functions.
  • The role is involved in projects or issues of high complexity that require in-depth knowledge across multiple technical areas and business segments.

THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS:

  • Strong risk controls and risk assessment and remediation experience - 5-7 years’ experience working within the information security, IT Risk or audit fields.
  • 2-4 years’ experience in the financial services industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Strong ability engage risk partners across IT in a non-confrontational manner).
  • Strong ability to proactively engage others to perform analytical research on relevance and presence of risk controls.
  • Strong relationship management.
  • Process-oriented.
  • Knowledge of industry-recognized information security-related standards such as ISO2700x, COBIT, PCI-DSS, FFIEC.
  • Basic understanding of application, network, operating system, and core infrastructure security concepts.
  • Highly self-motivated/works independently.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Detail-oriented, committed to quality.
