THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS

  • Strong background in Linux/UNIX (Debian/Ubuntu, AWS Linux)
  • Strong scripting experience (Bash, Python, or Go)
  • Expertise in Amazon Web Services (Preferably with multiple AWS offerings)
  • Information Security best practices, particularly in the context of AWS
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure configuration management & automation (Examples - Ansible, OpsWorks Chef, AWS Cloudformation, Salt, Terraform)
  • Monitor and Metrics gathering (Splunk, Prometheus, CloudWatch, Nagios)
  • Familiarity with Linux Containers and Virtualization (Docker and other virtualization technologies)
  • Knowledgeable in networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, IPSEC, etc.)
  • Strong interest in learning new and emerging technologies
  • General experience with RDBMS (Access Control, Administration, Tuning, etc.)
  • 5+ years of experience working in a production environment with distributed systems or high traffic sites
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture with expertise in Kubernetes / OpenShift or a different container orchestration system
  • CoreOS awareness
  • Familiarity with AWS RDS Postgres, AWS Redshift
  • Performance benchmarking and capacity planning
