WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Negotiate the placement of purchase orders of complex fast-track engineered equipment and/or services including terms and conditions without assistance in a manner that supports the projects' budgetary and schedule goals
  • Monitor the progress of the entire purchasing process including post-award expediting, and provide guidance to any/all purchasing assistants and expediters who are assigned to the projects
  • Handle inquiries and purchase orders for the Procurement Group, including data input.
  • Organize and coordinate daily activities including setting up meetings, making travel arrangements, maintaining a schedule, following up with reminders, and handling confidential matters.
  • Become operationally adept with the standard office systems and the Finesse ERP system and the SmarTeam document management system
  • Issue emails, memoranda, faxes, reports, compilations, agendas, and compose letters.
  • Make arrangements for conferences and meetings, including preparing or assisting in the preparation of agendas; gather and compile data to distribute to appropriate persons
  • Establish and keep current the department's individual files, records, manuals, logs, etc.
  • Perform work related to special projects and/or assignments as required.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel
  • Awareness of the general market climate and specific supplier circumstances for equipment and commodities that relate to the purchases. 

HOW YOU ARE QUALIFIED:

  • B.S. in Business Administration or Engineering required
  • Minimum 10 years of actual experience as a purchasing agent or related procurement work handling engineered equipment for fast track projects
  • Field experience handling capital equipment for projects
  • Proven ability to effectively negotiate engineered equipment packages
  • Thorough knowledge of purchasing standards and procedures
  • Intimate working knowledge of market conditions for equipment and commodities in domestic and international markets.

DESIRED QUALIFICATION(S):

  • CPM or ISM certificate preferred
  • International purchasing experience preferred
