WHERE this position is located:

  • Simsbury, CT

WHAT you will do:

  • Act as the technical project manager with overall responsibility for the management, performance and completion of new product development projects.
  • Collaborate with product managers and marketing team members to produce the project scope from the initial requirements document.
  • Utilize project deliverables to create and delegate the work breakdown structure that will in turn drive the detailed activity/task list. 
  • Accountable for acquiring accurate time and cost estimates while also managing the project budget and schedule.
  • Actively manage the project's Critical Path (or Critical Chain) and associated resources.
  • Monitor, and when necessary, recommend reliability techniques such as FMEA and predictive analysis tools to mitigate areas of high potential risk. 
  •  Use structured problem solving methodologies to identify root cause and effective corrective counter measures.
  • Provide conceptual oversight and work closely with product development from cradle to grave.
  • Provide leadership to the project team and work with team members to achieve common objectives
  • Prepare and present project Milestone review documents to the Engineering Milestone Review Committee and the Product Planning Group (PPG)
  • Work with team members to ensure accurate completion of engineering, marketing, and factory deliverables
  • Develop communication documents, presentations, and dashboards for sharing the project status and health to the leadership team. 
  • Drive the creation of technical specifications, design specifications, and system validation plans to meet project deliverables
  • Provide leadership in meeting the customer, safety, quality, manufacturing, cost, regulatory requirements with designs that have sustainable differentiation in the marketplace

HOW you are qualified:

  • BS in Engineering required; Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Science highly desired
  • Minimum 5 years experience in project management required
  • Minimum 3 years experience in new product development required
  • PMP certification a plus
  • Proven track-record managing large technical, multi-discipline projects and schedules required.
  • Project management of international/cross-platform project teams a plus
  • Experience in Tollgate, Milestone, or Stage gate development process highly desired
  • Extensive knowledge in product design and verification techniques
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project (or similar), PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Statistical and predictive experience with tools such as DOE, DFSS, FMEA highly desired
  • Experience with Critical Chain Project Management a plus
  • Experience with SCRUM and AGILE Software project management highly desired
  • Strong interest in developing new technology required.
