WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT:

  • Internal/external technical contact for thermo-mechanical processing operations including press forging, radial forging, hot rolling and heat treatment. Provide support for OSC conversion operations as required.
  • Maintenance and standardization of operating instructions, mill instructions and related equipment recipes.
  • Provide technical support in resolving process-related non-conformances and customer complaints.
  • Develop an understanding of hot working dies/hammers/rolls, capabilities and applications as well as evaluate impact of configuration changes.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance personnel to develop improvements to manufacturing processes and standards that enhance safety in the workplace, equipment performance and product quality.
  • Plan, execute and manage product/process continuous improvement programs using Plan-Do-Check-Act approach. Apply statistical data analysis and process modeling as required to support initiatives.
  • Lead or participate in team-based continuous improvement activities including risk assessments (RAA), problem solving reports (PSR), process audits and standard work.

THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science & Engineering.
  • Six Sigma or related certification preferred.
  • Statistical data analysis using JMP, Mini-Tab or related software.
  • Preferred 3-year process or product engineering experience related to Ni/Fe/Co-base super alloys, titanium and/or specialty steels.
