Packaging Engineer

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
• Reduce customer returns related to damage and improve the customer’s experience.
• Conduct cost/benefits analysis of adopting new packaging specifications/formats.
• Manage interfaces with key internal stakeholders to ensure risks associated with changeover are mitigated (e.g. supply chain risk, quality risk, etc.)
• Manage process of gaining customer acceptance for newly identified opportunities
• Creates plan to standardize and optimize division packaging and materials handling processes.
• Identifies and implements best practices across division.
• Leads packaging aspects of new product development along with projects designed to improve plant efficiency, package components quality and decrease cost of goods.
• Drives confirmation of new package testing protocols and procedures.
• Generate, develop and execute packaging ideas by leveraging both existing equipment and partnering with engineering on new equipment.
• Implements and maintains package specification content, creation and validation for all new and existing package components.
• Required to communicate cross-functionally with R&D in addition to communicating with Quality, Operations, Marketing, Sales and Customer Service.

HOW YOU ARE QUALIFIED:
• Minimum education requirement bachelors or technical degree
• Minimum of 5-10 years of packaging and material handling experience
• Effective interpersonal skills to work with and lead cross-functional teams.
• Must be proficient with advanced Excel tools and software needed to analyze and report data. Proficient with Oracle/ERP software
