WHERE this position is located:

  • NW of Hartford, CT

WHAT you will do:

  • Direct supervision of software engineers’ career development, appraisal and salary and promotion planning. Provide regular feedback and annual reviews.
  • Develops budgets,  manpower planning, and performance standards.
  • Coordination of software development activities for all programs, assigning software engineers to projects and management of software department manpower requirements. 
  • Work with program managers to quickly and accurately analyzes project requests for feasibility, risk, and level of effort. 
  • Maintain an efficient and effective engineering team by empowering and managing subordinate staff members and or consultants to meet schedules or resolve technical or operational problems while ensuring high quality standards.
  • Overall responsibility for ensuring  planning, design, coding,  documentation, integration,  testing and adherence to software quality standards for all software development are followed.
  • Participates in code reviews and provides valuable feedback on performance, logic, and maintenance issues.
  • Ensured all software development follows Accelerated Product Development, APD Ensure quality control for Software releases.
  • Ensure urgent attention to escalations and released software bugs.
  • Facilitate communications with Operations, Marketing, Finance, Training, Technical Support and Field Service through discussions and appropriate documentation and training.
  • Manage offshore development – Global Product Development (GPD)

HOW you are qualified:

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent required; MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent desired.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience, at least 3 in managing software teams required.
  • Interest, ability and proven track record of excellence in coaching individuals and strengthening team capabilities required
  • Experience in software development, verification, and standards required • Leader with excellent interpersonal skills required
  • Self-motivated, hard working with strong work ethic required. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing required
  • Experience in developing and tracking execution of software development using MS project highly desired.
  • Strong project management experience with ability to prioritize and manage time and projects effectively required.
  • Experience managing multiple tasks and working with multiple projects required.
  • Ability to interface with customers to develop and review requirements and plans required.
  • Strong competence with real-time embedded based applications required.
  • Strong competence in object-oriented programming using, C/C++ required.
  • Knowledge of Embedded Linux preferred.
  • Knowledge/Experience in Systems Engineering (including integration of various systems, operating systems knowledge and interaction of multiple software/hardware components that comprise a system) preferred.
  • Experience in multi-company development effort preferred.
