WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT:

  • Collaborate with IT and Business partners to research, design, develop, publish and execute end to end test and validation of complex applications.
  • Accountable for providing estimates and test plan to deliver applications on time and within budget that meets or exceeds quality standards
  • Interpret written business requirements, functional requirements and technical specification documents to design and develop test solutions that meet business needs
  • Participate in the improvement of quality assurance, deliverables, methodologies, and processes for application testing
  • Identify and write test scenarios and test cases from user stories and acceptance criteria and create, run and log test cases, test scripts and results (manual and automated)
  • Identify, document, and re-execute defects found in the software application, track and report the QA activities on a per project basis
  • Work closely within the agile team (Project Owner, Business Analysts and Developers) to identify, investigate, and resolve system problems and process issues
  • Review project deliverables and artifacts from a testing perspective, and provide feedback, including actively participating in a test plan review with the team
  • Execute all appropriate testing types (unit, integration, functional, regression, performance, etc.)
  • Clearly understand the difference between missed requirements, development bugs, production defects and backlog items. Communicate these back to the team utilizing the appropriate tools like Jira
  • Provide approvals from DEV to QA; QA to UAT; UAT to Production, as determined by the teams environment structure. Test for both positive and negative scenarios
  • Recommends innovative automation ideas to reduce the manual effort and increase the code coverage
  • Identifies dependencies and environments shared with other applications.

THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS:

  • 10+ years of analysis and testing experience with business knowledge in asset management domain.
  • Experience in Responsible Investment (ESG - Environmental, Social and Governance) domain is a strong plus.
  • Experience with data lake, SQL/no-SQL database (MongoDB, Oracle, etc.) and UNIX environment skills are required
  • Must have an extensive working knowledge of quality assurance methodologies and the different types of testing that can be done, as well as the software development life cycle
  • Proactive problem-solving skills, analytical skills, attention to detail, and follow-up skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Experience and ability to work in a team based Agile environment
  • Ability to focus on deadlines and deliverables, willingness to grow and learn an understanding of the business process.

Strong Pluses:

  • Experience with one or more of the following systems testing is a plus in the order given - a. Java libraries and related frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, JMS etc. b. Statistical analysis and machine learning tools and libraries (such as Python/R/SAS libraries related to this topic), c. Vaadin (UI framework) or Tableau. d. Knowledge in data mining, machine learning, natural language processing, or information retrieval. e. Big Data and Data Lake Solutions (Hadoop, Zaloni (Data Lake), Solr, Hive etc.). f. Cloud, AWS and related technologies g. Mulesoft or similar API management tools
  • Other Skills - a. Experience with modern source code repositories such as Git b. Strong automated test plan design, creation, and execution skills Strong experience with QA automation frameworks such as Selenium/Vaadin c. Strong analytical aptitude and quick problem-solving skills d. Willingness to be part of rotational support schedule and other operational activities
  • Attention to detail and ability to write quality technical documents
  • Strong analytical aptitude.
