  • Function as a production technician for Optical Fiber manufacturing
  • Maintain Fibermaking production equipment focused on forming, coating, and winding processes of optical fiber manufacturing
  • Provide expert-level troubleshooting following shift personnel efforts
  • Proactively monitor equipment and processes, identify outliers and trends, and drive opportunities to fundamental resolution
  • Make process/equipment/procedure adjustments
  • Manufacturing process and equipment improvement identification and solutions
  • Complete repair and maintenance on furnace components
  • Track and order needed parts and supplies; assemble complex systems for use on the equipment
  • Technician support and troubleshooting of optical fiber manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Function as process and equipment SMEs for the Fibermaking department for the forming, coating, and winding process steps
  • Trend analysis (by equipment, attribute, product) and monitoring/response plans
  • Concise and accurate documentation on troubleshooting steps and corrective actions
  • Recommend improvements to process/equipment and drive equipment robustness
  • Manufacturing improvement corrective action plans and solutions
  • Provide inputs about equipment maintenance requirements and shortfalls
  • Identify chronic issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Work in a team to drive equipment/process standardization and continuous improvements
  • Interface with Engineering, Infrastructure/Maintenance, IT and PPD
  • Work with operations team, including section and shift supervision and associates as required to improve manufacturing performance
  • Track and order needed parts and supplies; assemble complex systems for use on the equipment


  • Minimum 2-year degree in a technical field with a preferred 2 years of experience in manufacturing/design AND/OR minimum of 4 years of experience in a technical role in manufacturing/design
  • Ability to perform technical troubleshooting on mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, and electrical control systems and PLCs
  • Strong problem analysis and troubleshooting skills
  • Electrical technical skills and aptitude including electrical handheld instrumentation
  • Ability to read/understand electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and issues effectively
  • Ability to propose priority calls based on cost-benefit data analysis
  • Self-motivated and autonomous
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work off-hours on-call support and non-traditional hours
  • Ability to work within a team and provide training to others
