Why this role is important

  • Plan and manage monthly and year-end close process for assigned areas; review account reconciliations and ensure timely and accurate booking of transactions to the General Ledger
  • Produce timely and accurate monthly financial statements; provide analysis on financial information, including supporting revenue and expense schedules; distribute and communicate the financial results to appropriate parties
  • Collaborate and partner with cross-functional teams including Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Treasury, Payroll, Compensation, Risk Management, Tax, Financial Reporting and internal and external auditors
  • Define Sarbanes-Oxley requirements for processes and manage compliance; define critical controls, develop and update process documents, identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and effectiveness; review process documentation and internal control testing to ensure compliance
  • Assist in significant ad-hoc projects including streamlining existing processes and implementation of reporting structure changes
  • Serve as a knowledge expert and assist cross-functional teams in considering the accounting implications of restructuring projects and intercompany transactions
  • Review, interpret and evaluate accounting and reporting pronouncements issued by the various authoritative accounting organizations for assigned accounts
  • Make decisions on how the department operates and is responsible for the department as a whole
  • Act as a mentor for the team and guide associates in developing leadership skills
  • Identify and own process improvements from beginning to end

  • Typically manages a team of 4-6 associates in this role on a permanent basis
