WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT:

  • Responsible for designing aluminum, plastic, steel or other components for new products and line extensions.
  • Modify existing products to insure manufacturing quality.
  • Uses computer aided design software for three-dimensional modeling to design tools for production use.
  • Applies GD &T to drawings as required.
  • Performs analysis of tolerance stackups to insure form, fit and functionality.
  • Works with representatives of other departments such as, Production, Maintenance and Marketing to meet the design needs for the tool.
  • Responsible for using injection molding, die-casting, metal stamping, aluminum and plastic extrusions, to develop and design operational components for new products and line extensions.
  • Review designs with suppliers to insure manufacturing feasibility.
  • Perform some phases of prototype building or sources work to suppliers.
  • Works with representatives from Operations, Quality Assurance and other Engineering staff to develop and trouble shoot ideas and problems with component design issues.
  • Meets with tooling vendors and component suppliers on a regular basis, to insure that all components being produced continue to meet product specifications.
     

THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS:

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 3 years of design engineering experience.
  • Comfortable in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical blueprints and electrical schematics
