WHERE THIS POSITION IS LOCATED:

  • Charlotte, NC

WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT:

  • Use computers to generate geolocated designs of optical fiber telecom networks using CAD/GIS design software and a combination of pre-existing base maps and field survey data.
  • Using these designs, create bills-of-material, establish timelines, develop budgets, and assist internal and external customers in making vital decisions about major projects
  • Generate designs for complex projects. These designs will typically be 2D maps with extensive annotation
  • Collaborate with others to establish timelines and budgets, as well as solve problems.
  • Knowledge of industry, engineering, math, and materials.
  • Ability to analyze data and situations to develop creative solutions.
  • Keep up to date on industry and engineering standards.

THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS:

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience (4-year Technology or Engineering degree preferred).
  • Civil engineering experience a plus.
  • Sit for extended periods of time and use hands to operate computers.
  • Extensive experience with AutoCAD (AutoCAD Civil 3D experience preferred).
  • Intermediate experience with a GIS platform such as ESRI or QGIS.
  • Ability to master the use of electronic and mechanical field survey equipment.
  • Ability to make decisions based on designs.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with others to solve problems.
  • Firm grasp of mathematics, engineering, and industry information.
  • Some travel may be required.
