WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT:

  • Oversee financial planning activities by monitoring and analyzing monthly operating results, managing the preparation of financial, results, outlooks and forecasts for monthly and other reports.
  • Oversee project accounting to ensure accurate tracking and classification of costs, by monitoring and analyzing monthly spend-to-date against approved budget.
  • Manage the timely completion and distribution of financial reports to clients and key business leaders, assists in resolving discrepancies and variances in actuals-to-budget, and responds to requests, questions, and issues related to the ongoing financial performance.
  • Contribute to the annual business planning and budgeting process for each function by managing historic and predictive financial data, as well as managing budget and financial models.
  • Oversee and approve financial transactions and information in preparation for entry into various financial statements and accounting reports by checking calculations, reviewing basis for figures, balancing and reconciling figures, and making exceptions as necessary.
  • Approve budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices and other accounting documents and researches and resolves discrepancies as necessary.
  • Approve and authorize exceptions to bank reconciliations and wire transfers for deposit and ensures accuracy.
  • Develop and implement accounting control procedures by analyzing revenue and expenditure trends and recommending appropriate budget levels to ensure expenditure control.
  • Act as liaison to internal and external auditors by explaining journal entries and financial transactions, providing research data and information as requested.
  • Supervise accounting team by interviewing, hiring, orienting, and training team members, and manages their performance.
  • Complete various financial, accounting, administrative, and other reports and analysis, and perform other duties as assigned or as necessary.

THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS:

  • BS/BA in accounting or finance required
  • 5-7 years’ experience with development and construction; Public Accounting a plus
  • GAAP experience and Certified Public Accountant is a preferred 
  • Yardi experience preferred
  • Must have exceptional communication skills and be comfortable speaking to all levels of the organization
